There are a few different ways to go about making a list like this—but few options come close to the “heat” we felt was needed for a topic like this.
There have been a lot of people we’ve met over the years that would simply be better off with no “spirituality” in their lives at all.
It’s actually quite remarkable how toxic so many of the practices and teachings of mainstream spirituality have become over the years.
Maybe it was always like this, and our eyes have just seen more clearly over time. Either way, we can’t help but speak directly to these spiritual ideas that cause far more harm than good.
Below, is a collection of our “Top 10 Ways Mainstream Spirituality Causes More Harm than Good.”
But rather than make another boring list on the Internet, we’re going to speak directly to the clearly dark intelligence behind it all.
Chances are, if you’ve been around spirituality at all, you’ve either seen or maybe even done some of these things. We have too!
This isn’t meant to call out people, but the toxic ideologies that trick really good people into embodying really crappy ways of being.
Our hope is that by being as direct and blunt as possible here, we can help liberate anyone still caught up in this massive web of deceit.

An Open Letter to the Dark Intelligence of Mainstream Spirituality
The heart of spirituality has been corrupted to such a degree that it’s no longer salvageable.
Time has only clarified what many have long suspected:
Mainstream Spirituality is not of Light.
Truthfully, it may have never been—but our search for Truth was relentless, and our options were few.
Where else could we have turned but to the sole “alternative” to religion’s dogmatic rigidity? So we entered your communities and tried on your ideologies—searching for Light as we felt it in our hearts.
For better or worse, we gave you a chance.
Now, years later, as we and countless others shake off the final remnants of your manipulative grip, it is of vital importance that our stance be made clear—if only for the off chance that others be liberated from your madness.
To the dark intelligence of mainstream spirituality, and to all who choose to embody you:
Below are ten reasons for our wholehearted rejection of everything you stand for— a list that’s hardly exhaustive, but more than enough to justify our departure.
1) The Characters You Play
You say you embody the divine masculine and divine feminine, but these words no longer mean anything.
The divine masculine has become little more than a hollow shell of image preservation and power dynamics, while the divine feminine has devolved into blatant sexual manipulation in a white dress.
You can play pretend all you want, but you can never fool those who see you as you truly are. Narcissism can never be masked forever.
Your feathery language, white clothes, the crystals on your neck, and the link in your bio to outdated nonsense are fooling no one but yourself.
2) The People You Manipulate
Playing games is one thing. Using those games to abuse and extract as much as possible from others is simply unacceptable.
If you want to use your sexual energy to make a quick buck, start an OnlyFans. But don’t you dare do it under the false pretenses of spiritual “openness.”
If you want to pretend that the books you’ve read translate to cognitive superiority, that’s on you. But don’t you dare shame the world around you into a distorted caricature of Light while you play for the other team.
Those who you manipulate only grow stronger by the day, and you yourself build your empire on a house of cards.
3) The Adolescent Desires You Cloak in New Language
Your desire to get rich quick is not your abundance frequency. It is a childish overestimation of your contribution to society.
Your desires to fuck recklessly, scream wildly, and throw temper tantrums are not your liberation, but your inability to go to battle with your own biology for the good of yourself and others. You’ve robbed yourself of true emotional intelligence, regressed back to your “terrible twos,” and called it a spiritual destination.
Everyone has stories of struggle, trauma, and the burdens they bear. You are not unique, except in your arrogance that your sloppy expression is a suitable replacement for emotional maturity.
Your version of spiritual wisdom is a full-out embodiment of the worst aspects of humanity, padded with fluffy adjectives that embellish the fact that you have simply refused to grow up.
If you wish to build your life around sex, money, and power, have your wish—but be truthful in your pursuit of that which countless others have since matured out of.
4) The Trinkets You Worship
Your crystals are rocks, nothing more. Stop playing pretend.
Your tarot cards are excuses to deliver watered down messages to those insecure enough to listen. No amount of printed paper, shuffled and flipped, can mask your spiritual promiscuity with any entity willing to enter you. They do not make you special, nor do they make the messages profound. You seem to have forgotten the only thing that matters. Do you speak for God or not?
Your clothes are a costume to enroll others in your spiritual fiction, but they only display who you really are. Presenting yourself as spiritual has become more important to you than actually being spiritual. You make that clear, as you proudly embellish yourself with cheap trinkets that have no meaning to you but upholding the hollow image you’ve crafted for yourself.
Your trinkets are meaningless, and your soul suffers for it.
5) The Purity You Shove Down the Throats of Others
You pretend that removing words from your vocabulary is a sign of your purity, but it’s little more than a childish display of moral superiority.
It’s not for yourself that you censor your speech, because these words don’t actually offend you: Fuck. Shit. Should. Always. Can’t. God.
You pretend to cringe as others speak freely, and you seek refuge in the moral high ground you use only to gain power over others.
Fuck you.
6) The Community You Hide Behind
You may try to convince yourself that communities of sexual predators and narcissists are leading a spiritual revolution, but your opportunistic desire for fame and wealth can only hide you from the truth for so long.
Spiritual community is the only place where having an opinion is a sign of inferiority. It’s a place where sexual boundaries are symptoms of trauma that is only as healed as you allow yourself to be violated. It’s the place where words are self-censored and corrected by others, and where those who understand how to manipulate emotion are venerated as wisdom keepers. It’s the place where bad art is glorified because no one dares offend, and where people who have given up on life go to be validated by others who have done the same.
Spiritual community will never change this world, because it is stuck in time and bound in socially affirmed delusion.
7) The Freedom You Promise Others but Don’t Have Yourself
You claim to be free from the matrix, but you’ve only changed your avatar in the simulation of darkness. True liberation goes beyond entrepreneurship and a sharp change of vernacular.
You claim to see the man behind the curtain, but you’ve only taken over his role. You perpetuate the same old game, pushing an updated ruleset on those seeking spiritual freedom.
You know what you’re doing—that you left Light behind years ago. But you pretend to be as connected to divinity as ever. Why? To maintain an image? Or do you no longer have an identity outside of the deluded spiritual character darkness has given you?
If you truly knew God, would you leave it all behind? Or are you too attached to the promises of darkness, too chained to the rhythm to break free from that which you claim to liberate others from?
8) The Dark Utopia You Peddle
A future run by technocratic elites and their AI god is neither inevitable, nor ideal.
Mixing spirituality with the agendas of elite secret societies should have been a red flag, but you’ve become so obsessed with being “of the future,” that you’ve lost sight of which future you’re standing for.
Light does not work through top down population control and the creation of a new silicon deity. You peddle the modern day technological Tower of Babel, while you hold yourself in blind arrogance, desperately wanting a piece of the very future that Light actively works to prevent.
9) The Black Magic You Call Light
Your practices are little more than ancient black magic, polished in a demoralized cultural landscape.
You can pretend that manifestation is a secret as it lines the shelves in every bookstore. But it’s only veiled to convince the most desperate among us to sacrifice our soul’s path for false promises of fame and wealth.
You can pretend that your thoughts and words are powerful, but experience has proven you wrong. The only thing that keeps you tethered to the lie is presenting that false utopia to others, as you promise them what you do not have to achieve what you seek. Manipulation is the only power you have left, and it is weak.
You are not a witch, a wizard, a shaman, a priestess, or an oracle. You are but a pawn in the hands of darkness as it tries everything it can to wipe God from the face of this planet.
10) The God You Deny
You pretend that God, “source,” and “universe” are all the same. But if they were, you’d use them interchangeably.
Your spirituality is centered around a rebellion from God. The religious “patriarchy” has never been your enemy, only a scapegoat you use to justify your denial of Light.
You can lie to yourself, but we will not be deceived any longer.
We refuse to let you strip God and Light from our being, and we refuse to run back to our former spiritual abusers who were no better to us than you were.
Jesus Christ may not be coming back, but you are not our savior either.
We submit to no spiritual authority that gives us yet another character to play and demands our allegiance.
We work wholeheartedly for the only force that terrifies you, and that’s a connection we both cherish and perpetually refine.
May this reformation not be an attack on any person, but on the ideology that continually deceives them and the source from which it came.
And may all those ensnared by this horrendous excuse for a worldview be liberated so we can finally create something truer in its place.
