Why You Should Be Skeptical of Channeled Material (From a Channel)

Here’s something that almost no one in the spiritual world wants to talk about honestly: not all channeled material is trying to get you to the same place.

Different channels say different things. Different beings have different motivations. And the assumption that any intelligence speaking from a “higher dimension” automatically has your best interest in mind is — at best — naive. At worst, it’s the very mechanism by which people lose themselves.

We say this in a channeled teaching. The irony isn’t lost on us. But that’s actually the point — if you can’t be skeptical of even this, what are you really doing? Is this journey your own, or are you just along for the ride?

What Channeling Actually Is

Channeling isn’t psychic ability. It’s not clairvoyance. It’s not reading the Akashic records or scanning the collective for information packets. Those are real phenomena, but they’re not what we’re talking about.

Channeling is a synchronization with another intelligent being. Think of it like picking up an interdimensional telephone and calling someone. There’s a real-time nature to it — a live exchange with a separate, distinct intelligence. Not an energy. Not an information field. A being. With a perspective, a motivation, and an agenda.

And just like picking up any phone, there has to be a reason the person on the other end answers. There has to be a motivation for that communication. That motivation doesn’t have to be sinister. But it doesn’t have to be benevolent either.

The moment you understand this, a little bit of healthy skepticism kicks in. And that skepticism might be the most important spiritual skill you develop — because without it, you’re just accepting whatever comes through the line on the assumption that “spiritual” equals “good.”

The Oneness Problem

Here’s what a lot of channeled material — and mainstream spirituality more broadly — asks of you: relinquish your identity. Shed your ego. Merge into something collective, larger, higher. Become nobody. Let go of your opinions, your assertiveness, your edges. The goal, as presented, is oneness — dissolving the individual self into a sea of collective consciousness.

We want to challenge that directly.

Does it resonate with you — at your deepest core — that the reason you came here was to develop into a person, discover unique traits and skills, feel that longing to do something meaningful as you… and then realize you shouldn’t be a person at all?

Does it land as truth that the spiritual journey ends with removing the very things that make you uniquely you? Your opinions. Your perspectives. Your drive. Your soul’s specific expression. All of it gone, replaced by a cookie-cutter archetype of what a “spiritual person” looks like — smiling, agreeable, detached, without edges?

Look closely at the people who’ve gone deep into these teachings. How much of the individual still remains? How much of their soul’s essence is actually present? Or have they become a character — performing spirituality in the same way the rest of the world performs success?

We’re not saying every teaching that ever mentions the word “oneness” is dark. But we are saying this: if the material you’re consuming is leading you to become less of yourself — less opinionated, less assertive, less grounded in your own knowing — then something isn’t right. Regardless of how many people believe in it.

One Simple Test

Sorting out whether channeled material (or any spiritual teaching) is actually helpful comes down to one question:

Is it helping you to be more at peace and more of yourself?

Not more “spiritual.” Not more “enlightened.” Not more connected to a collective. More of you — your actual soul, with your actual knowing, making your actual decisions from your own place of peace.

If the answer is yes, keep going. If the answer is that you’re slowly dissolving into something that has no opinions, no edges, no drive, and no recognizable identity — that’s not growth. That’s something else entirely.

And here’s the uncomfortable possibility: maybe a lot of what passes for spiritual wisdom is designed to do exactly that. Maybe the teachings that tell you to release your ego, merge into oneness, surrender your individual will — maybe those teachings serve a purpose that has nothing to do with your liberation.

Maybe those beings have a motivation that isn’t about helping you become yourself.

Maybe their motivation is to get you out of the way.

Why Skepticism Is Spiritual

One of the most common experiences for people navigating the spiritual landscape is a quiet, persistent feeling that something is wrong with the teachings they’re consuming. The Law of One doesn’t quite sit right. The manifestation framework doesn’t hold up under scrutiny. The channeled being asking you to dissolve your identity doesn’t feel like it’s on your team.

But there’s a mechanism that suppresses that feeling every time: I must be the problem. I must not be understanding it correctly. Look at how many people believe this. There’s no way I’m just seeing it clearly.

We want to take a moment to say: maybe you are seeing it clearly. Maybe your disagreement isn’t resistance or ego or low vibration. Maybe it’s your soul — your actual, intelligent, discerning soul — telling you that this information source isn’t taking you where you need to go.

That feeling is worth more than any teaching. Because at the end of the day, every spiritual framework should be pointing you back to your own knowing. Every teaching should be making your connection to your own truth clearer, not replacing it with someone else’s.

Which spiritual ideologies do you see out there that point you back to yourself? That say: you don’t need me, you don’t need an external savior, you don’t need to pay these institutions — all you need is your own real-time personal connection to God, found in your peace, delivering the ideal constantly?

Not many. And that absence should tell you something.

What We’re Actually Here For

We’ll tell you our motivation plainly.

We work for God. Not the God of rulebooks or institutions. The actual higher benevolent intelligence that every soul is connected to and has the free will to engage with or not.

God’s intention is that you become the fullest expression of yourself as a soul — and that you engage with a world where other people are doing the same. Not merging. Not dissolving. Collaborating as distinct, solid, sovereign beings, each expressing something unique, refining each other through genuine interaction.

That’s the design of reality. And it’s nearly impossible to access right now because the connection to that guidance has been all but severed — buried under obligation, cultural programming, and spiritual ideologies that sound enlightened but lead in the opposite direction.

Our motivation — B’s motivation for picking up the phone, David and Miriam’s motivation for building The Second Paradigm — is to help restore the possibility that God becomes an option again. Not to tell you what to believe. Not to replace one set of teachings with another. To open up enough space for your own discernment to function.

Because if you already feel that something is off about what you’ve been taught — if there’s a part of you that disagrees with the channeled material, the manifestation teachings, the ego-death frameworks, the oneness doctrines — we want to say directly: maybe you’re right.

Sit with it. Ask your peace. See what your own connection tells you.

And if nothing else, know this: it’s better to do nothing than to walk in a direction you know isn’t yours. Stopping, resting, looking at the map — that’s not failure. That’s the beginning of discernment. And discernment is what gets you back on the path to yourself.

If this resonated, you’re not alone. We’ve been exploring these ideas for years through channeled material, a growing community, and a body of work that goes much deeper than a single article can.

Start with our Free Resource Library — it’s designed to take you from wherever you are right now into a framework that makes sense of all of this. And if you want to go even deeper, The Second Paradigm Community is where this work comes alive.
