David and Miriam Hrostoski are co-founders of The Second Paradigm, a spiritual education framework for building a direct, personal relationship with God—outside of religion and beyond mainstream spirituality.
There has to be more to life than this.
That thought started everything. For both of us, at almost the same time, on opposite sides of the country.
In 2011, David’s mom died a week after his high school graduation. A full ride to college, a clear path forward—and overnight, all of it felt hollow.
Around the same time, Miriam’s mom had a stroke. As the highest-paid grocery manager in her state, everything she’d built through her 70-hour workweeks suddenly meant nothing.
We both asked the same question. And instead of letting it pass, we bet everything on it.
The Bet
David dropped out of college with 19 credits left. Miriam left her career and her benefits. We had no safety net and no guarantees.
All we had was a feeling we couldn’t shake. That feeling turned out to be the most reliable thing in our lives.
From opposite sides of the country, we moved to California in 2015, found each other, and started building a body of work we now call The Second Paradigm.
Who We Are
David
David grew up as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Tucson, Arizona. After his mom passed in 2011, he swung hard the other direction—trying to intellectually disprove God and build a case for atheism, all the while leaning heavily into personal development and building a location-independent coaching business online.
Try as he might, that life didn’t hold. Something deeper kept pulling.
In November 2016, his channel opened—a connection to a being he calls B. Not an extraterrestrial or a spirit guide in the New Age sense—a being within a connected soul architecture that works for God and translates divine guidance into human language. Through B, David has authored over 30 channeled documents that form the backbone of what The Second Paradigm teaches.
David acts as the ideological center of T2P, making sense of the human experience through their ever-growing framework. In mentorship settings, he sees the entire field of where someone is stuck and why, and he can articulate what’s happening in a way that lands before you’ve even finished explaining the problem. His gift is precision—putting the subtlest of intuitive feelings into words.
Miriam
After college, Miriam built a career as the highest-paid grocery manager in her state. But after her mom’s stroke in 2011, she couldn’t help but wonder if there was more to life. She explored astrology, spirituality, and personal development which brought her to a retreat in California. During that plane ride, she heard an audible voice for the first time in her life—”this isn’t a vacation, this is a return home.”
She picked up her life and moved to California without a plan and without a job lined up. That leap of faith made everyone around her incredibly uncomfortable, but was a life-changing experience to validate that, yes, her intuition is really trustable. Like she felt, everything fell into place and she quickly found a job, a place to stay, and built a life in California.
After meeting David in 2015, she found comfort in the messages coming through B. It complemented the journey she was already having, and gave her new language to articulate the unshakable trust in God she already had.
Today, Miriam acts as the relational center of T2P, cultivating a sense of community around the intuitive lifestyle and truly creating a feeling of home. She makes pottery, small-batch tinctures, and tallow skincare through Welcome Home by Miriam—the lifestyle arm of The Second Paradigm—that brings that sense of cozy warmth into physical products that live in your home.
She also (still) questions everything—reality, the spiritual industry, mainstream narratives—with the kind of directness that makes you exhale. “We don’t even know where we are!”
That balance between cozy and fiery is what makes Miriam unique and what makes The Second Paradigm feel like a true home for intuitives and not just a dry framework you read in a book.
What We Built
We didn’t set out to build a spiritual brand. We set out to answer a question: Is there actually something trustable about our deepest sense of truth, and can you build a real life around it?
We already lived in spiritual community. Everyone talked about intuition and trusting that deepest knowing, but there always seemed to be a line that was drawn in the sand—the practical, business, to-do lists, and rigid strategies and frameworks—a place where intuition took a backseat.
With the beginning of this work already coming through David’s channel, they decided to make a huge bet on intuition—to let it run every last aspect of their life, with no compromise. Would that really be possible?
The answer turned out to be yes—but not through any existing framework:
New Age had the impulse toward direct experience but collapsed God into the self and traded discernment for positivity. Religion had the right idea about building a life around God, but got stuck in dogma and institutional control. Self-help took the inner life seriously, but refused to look deeper to the spiritual experience. Conspiracy culture saw through the lies but had no framework for what to do about it.
With nowhere to truly call home, we explored all we could, drew something real from each of those worlds, and dropped what held each of them back.
The result is The Second Paradigm—a framework for intuition-led living that doesn’t exist anywhere else. Not because we’re special, but because we refused to build on top of what was already broken.
